The Otago Daily Times Extra Spelling Quiz

On the 10th of June, Chisnallwood held the Otago Daily Times Extra spelling competition. We sat down nervously at our table and waited anxiously for the first round to begin. There were 10 rounds, and after a few rounds there was an update on the score. Chisnallwood Team 6 had 72 out of a possible 73 points. At the end of 10 rounds we waited to find out the results. The tension was eating us alive. It turned out that there were 5 teams that had to battle it out for 3rd place. Chisnallwood Team 6 was one of them. We felt like screaming, we were so excited.

During the playoff after two words two teams had been knocked out of the running. The 3rd word was repertoire. IT TOOK US DOWN!St Andrews won the competition and received a plaque for their school, medals, pens and book vouchers. At the end of the day, it turned out that Chisnallwood Team 6 tied 3rd equal. It was a great night and everyone had a blast. We cannot wait until next year.
